Neon

Inside Neon

A place for the thoughts you want to return to.

An idea on a walk. The reason behind a decision. Something you understand differently today.

Neon is a personal memory workspace for iPhone and Apple Watch. Keep a moment in your own voice, recover its original words, and choose what to do with it.

About these screenshots

From a passing thought
to something you can use.

The point is what you can recover and do with it.

  1. Capture

Start a chosen recording. Mark a moment you want to revisit. Pause when you need privacy.

  2. Recover

Find the original words, inspect their source and correct the transcript.

  3. Use

Resume an idea, review a decision or write what you think now.

  4. Choose what to keep

Keep the useful parts. Leave a question open. Delete what you no longer want.

On your wrist

Catch the thought
while it is still yours.

The Watch is the quick way in: deliberate recording, a bookmark and direct pause or end controls. Recording state and interruptions belong in view.

Timed recording gives you a chosen endpoint. Maximum capture is being developed without a scheduled cutoff. Device conditions can still interrupt recording.

These two screenshots show an earlier build’s finite session options. Actual capture, transfer and battery endurance still need physical-device qualification.

On your phone

Make room for what’s next.

The iPhone is useful on its own. It holds the deeper work. Search your memories, choose relevant originals, correct their wording and add a later account without turning it into the original.

Built around moments
that deserve a second look.

Useful paths in the current development app.

Pick up a thread

Choose the notes that belong to a project. Read where you left it and write your present context.

Recover a decision

Review the reasons you selected and any reported outcome. An unknown outcome stays unknown.

Continue an idea

Revisit a creative seed, try a connection or record a fresh thought before asking for suggestions.

Prepare for something

Bring chosen originals and your current context into a review before a rehearsal, discussion or meeting.

Look back and learn

Try to recall a selected factual note, then reveal its exact words and check your recollection.

Choose a next step

Keep a proposal separate from a commitment. Something you said does not automatically become a task.

These paths are implemented in the development source. Their everyday benefit and complete device journey are still being tested.

More inside the development app

A living map

Link a chosen thought to a later account: how it developed, how you reconsidered it or why you returned. A link does not establish causation.

Experience beyond words

Describe sound, music, an image, a bodily feeling or a silent thought later. Choose whether an account is remembered, imagined, interpreted or uncertain.

Recovery you choose

The development app includes an encrypted journal and chosen encrypted recovery through Files. Recovery, export and deletion have separate meanings.

Optional local intelligence

Local meaning-based retrieval and selected-note proposals are in development. Search coverage, language accuracy and device performance still need qualification.

A memory you can question

Your words then.
Your understanding now.

A transcript, a correction and a later reflection tell different parts of the story. Neon’s design keeps them distinct, with the original available to inspect.

Optional AI reflection works over selected text you review before sending. Suggested interpretations remain suggestions. Missing context leaves room for “I don’t know.”

  • You choose the sources.
  • You can correct what was understood.
  • You decide whether a suggestion is useful.

An intimate archive needs agency

You choose what stays.
And what leaves.

Local capture is the foundation. Cloud reflection is a separate choice.

Recording has an off switch

Start, pause and end are deliberate controls. Permission to record is not permission to disclose an archive. Recording other people requires their knowledge and appropriate consent.

AI is optional

The current app offers a deliberate selected-text handoff and optional personal-key API reflection. You inspect the text and destination before a send. Managed cloud service and live ChatGPT/Claude connections remain in development.

Corrections and deletion matter

The app’s source and synthetic checks protect corrections and deletion from late transcription and stale derived results. These protections still need complete device and service testing. Copies already exported or sent cannot be recalled by local deletion.

Your originals remain yours

Neon’s product contract keeps privacy controls, deletion, basic export and access to retained originals available without a paid membership. Membership and permission to process your data are separate choices.

Why we are building Neon

A richer record
of a life in progress.

Over time, chosen words can preserve how an idea began, why a choice mattered and how your understanding changed.

That is the ambition behind “Document your consciousness”: a record of experience as you describe it, with space for reflection and change.

Speech is a partial account. It cannot contain everything you experienced, establish a complete personality or preserve consciousness itself. More transcript is useful only when it helps you return to something that matters.

The longer-term direction is a personal Memory Atlas: connected ideas, projects and changing accounts that remain grounded in their sources. It is a research and development direction, rather than a promise that every capability is available today.

Research into practice

Questions before claims.

Autobiographical memory, reflection, metacognition and long-term AI recall shape the questions we test. They inform the design; they do not establish Neon’s results.

Keep the source

Leave room for uncertainty
Confidence is not the same as accuracy.
Test the failures
Wrong speakers, changed facts and unanswerable questions matter.

Where Neon stands

Built. Being tested.
Still becoming.

Neon is a native app in development, with iPhone and Watch builds and synthetic checks. It is not yet available on the App Store.

Physical capture endurance, the complete phone–Watch journey, live external connections and managed membership remain qualification work. The next validation step is a small three-person pilot.
